Tove Södersten, (born in 1982) has trained in BJJ since 2005. It was a coincidence that she found the sport and after a couple of months the will to excel and become a great athlete became her major drive in life, since then she has been practicing as much as she can.
Tove says that the biggest thrill is to compete; it is a direct feeling, the essence of the martial art, almost an experience of a heightened reality.
At the club, there is a solid work ethic which she hasn’t seen anywhere else. Coming to a competition knowing that you have done the best you can is the most important thing for her.
Preparation, effort and courage are great factors to surviving in a competitive environment. This new found power, that comes from being involved in this sport and which she says she has carried with her since she begun training in BJJ, has helped her through many things in life.
